(November 10, 2008, Kingman, Arizona) --Performance Specialists, a Harley repair and machine shop in Kingman, sponsored a Veteran’s Day Poker Run on Sunday, November 9th at Chuy’s in Kingman to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF). Wind, rain nor even snow could stop the fearless riders who showed up to participate. The turnout was lower than anticipated due to the adverse weather, but the event still brought camaraderie and fellow riders together to honor our fine military men and women. A fun time was had by all those who succumbed to the first true day of Kingman winter with the 2008 initiation of their leathers, chaps and winter gear in celebration of our Veterans.

Thanks to all who took part in the Veteran’s Day event and to the contributing stops along the route: Chuy’s as the host location, Hackberry General Store, Hualapai Mountain Resort Lodge and the Castle Rock Bar and Grill. Donations for several prizes were graciously given from Law Tigers. Thanks to Judy who dispersed the first and last draw at Chuy’s and for assisting with the registrations. Daniel and Jessica from DJ’s Biker’s Apparel took Sunday away from their new store to donate their time at the second stop to cheer our riders on. Dominic manned the third stop and Artie was at the fourth stop with Claire from Tangles Hair Salon to applaud our riders. The local band “Irie Soundz and the Half-Wits” donated their time to welcome our riders back to the home base of Chuy’s. All in all, everyone who attended enjoyed the day despite the outside temperatures and precipitation. With everyone’s help, we raised over $350 to send to SOWF... despite the Hualapai snow, the Hackberry rain and the infamous Kingman “breeze”.

A special “Thank You” goes to the Kingman Daily Miner for promoting and recognizing this event and the other happenings around town this week. The story in the November 9th Sunday paper was a wonderful description of the functions of SOWF and the very necessary worthwhile contributions they make for our Special Operation Warriors and their families. For more information or to make donations to the foundation go to their website www.specialops.org. They will also be posting some of the Poker Run photos in the near future.

As for our riding warriors in Kingman, we thank you all and we are happy to be a part of local community of motorcycle enthusiasts.

To our fellow Veterans and Military men and women, we thank you and honor you for your services and sacrifices you make or have made for us and our country.
